Where it is still warm – Efstathia Flokatoula

At lunchtime, it was forbidden to leave the houses. One day, we quietly took the big plastic table and carried it to the empty house. By 6:30pm everything had returned to its original place, as if nothing had ever happened.

“Where it is still warm” is a project in which I seek to explore the tension between restriction and freedom, between control and instinct, showing how even the simplest sensations can provide a window of escape in a world of rules.

Drawn from my childhood memories, I photographed in a small settlement of little houses where I used to spend my summer holidays. Back then, I would lie on the sun-warmed asphalt, in secret — letting the heat hold me together.

These small, silent acts of rebellion still remain close.
