Here this work proposes a different perspective on the haunting presence of Death in Life, the one through the affection of tradition. Through digging paths back to our roots, a plane of existence between present and past unfolds itself. A place where absence is part of a harmonious balance, completing a full circle, like the beginning and ending of a day with a bird’s warble.

Danae Danica is a visual artist and botany scientist based in Athens, Greece. She is working in the medium of photography, both with analogue and digital means of creating images. Through her photographs, she explores themes such as folklore, the relationship with the unknown, nostalgia, psychology and the Holy. Nature is a common element in her work, often used figuratively.
