Mom & Dad is a photographic series created in our family home on the island of Leros, depicting my parents asleep over a period of eight years. The act of photographing them began almost by accident, since the architecture of the house requires one to pass through their bedroom in order to leave. Over time, this daily passage quietly transformed into a ritual of observation.
In sleep, their bodies seemed to dissolve into timelessness. The camera became a witness to this fragile suspension, to the ways love, aging, and abandonment intertwine in the stillness of a shared dream. As in the writings of Maurice Blanchot, sleep appears not as absence but as a subtle form of presence: a retreat from the world that reveals the tenderness of being.
